Signing of the Mulyung Aboriginal Corporation Local Decision Making Agreement Implementation Plan for Emu Point

- The Northern Territory (NT) Government and leaders from Emu Point signed the Mulyung Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) Local Decision Making (LDM) Agreement Implementation Plan (the Implementation Plan) on 17 July 2024 at a community celebration at Emu Point.
- MAC represents the cultural authority and governance of Emu Point and has expressed a strong interest to work with the NT Government to deliver additional housing, health and education infrastructure and transition the homeland to remote community status.
- The MAC LDM Agreement (the Agreement) represents MAC’s vision to advance the social and economic wellbeing of the community to create positive and lasting change, have a genuine voice in, and assume greater control of, decisions and service delivery impacting Emu Point, and develop strong and supportive relationships with governments, ensuring community and government priorities are aligned.
- Importantly, the Implementation Plan provides an ongoing platform for engagement and empowerment of community leaders through a series of agreed actions between the Parties.
- The Implementation Plan is a call to action and confirms the NT Government’s commitment to supporting MAC in assuming greater control over its affairs.
